ND CDE is adapting a new online course delivery platform to better serve our students. The platform is
called MOODLE, and it provides more flexibility and easier maneuverability for each student to view online
course discussions, access supplementary resources, and complete lesson work. It allows students to complete
portions of the assessments at a time, to save their work if necessary, and to easily retrieve and submit their work when they are finished. MOODLE
allows students to save all of their work without having to worry about file type or compatibility issues. Most of the assessments will be divided
into two parts. The first part will be computer-graded, and the student will be able to view the results immediately after submission. The second part
contains the portion of the assessment that will go to the instructor to grade and comment on. MOODLE allows the instructor to grade the work directly
in the database as well as to add any additional comments. Everything is stored in MOODLE so both the student and instructor can view and
review all the assessments whenever they wish. To view the demo click the image above or click here.
U.S. and International Issues is designed to make complex international issues understandable and meaningful to students. The lessons will help students develop critical thinking skills and use civic judgment. In addition, each lesson is built around a framework of alternative policy options that challenges students to consider multiple perspectives and to think critically about the issues at hand. The topics which will be investigated include the U.S. and the changing world, U.S. and immigration, U.S. and foreign aid, the United Nations, genocide, terrorism, nuclear capabilities, global environment issues, U.S. and the Middle East, U.S. and Mexico, and finally U.S. and China.
